The Stars of Your Anatomy – Labia Majora and Labia Minora Reduction

Posted by ALVR | December 20, 2018

Back to All

“Labia majora” and “labia minora” sound a bit like constellations visible in the night sky.

But these lovely, sensitive stars of your anatomy may be seen only “South of the horizon” on any given day. Generally speaking, their location makes viewing difficult except by a privileged few, though a telescope (thankfully) is not required.

Some women are concerned with the appearance of their labia. They are interested in having labiaplasty surgery solely to make their inner and/or outer vaginal labia appear more pleasing to themselves, and potentially, their intimate partners. As the most highly sought Austin urogynecologist for this and other feminine procedures, Dr. Shashoua has helped many women achieve the appearance they’ve been seeking. This is evidenced by the numerous results shown in the labiaplasty before and after pictures on our website.

But, you may have more skin in the game, literally speaking. If your labia are on the larger or protruding side, they may rub against your clothing and become chaffed and irritated daily. Tight-fitting clothes, like swimsuits, may not feel like a day at the beach. And, intercourse may be difficult, sometimes resulting in significant swelling. Pulling, tugging, and even tearing can occur. Undue friction over time may also result in hymenal tags. These are vaginal skin tags sometimes confused with genital warts. These may be as small as the head of a pin or as large as a grape. (We don’t believe that you should have to put up with any of this).

Rejuvenation for any reason

At Austin Labiaplasty and Vaginal Rejuvenation, we’re here to help women regardless of the reason that their labia are causing concern or discomfort. For a majority, appearance is not the issue. And, if it is a concern, it’s secondary to one of comfort. – In addition to our labiaplasty photos, be sure to see the results in our labia majora reduction photos available on the same page.

Post-labiaplasty, many women who are our patients proclaim newfound confidence in being able to wear whatever they want. They celebrate by participating in activities they previously dreaded or avoided due to inevitable discomfort. No longer will you constantly have to “adjust” when running, cycling, or horseback riding. You can do a downward dog without worrying that your yoga pants will tug or pull. You may discover carefree sex that allows you to be in the moment knowing that you won’t suffer during or after.

ALVR believes that feminine health is your right and that it’s our privilege to help. Sometimes all it takes is a consultation to assure you that you are more “normal” than you thought. In addition to being the go-to specialists for labiaplasty procedures in Austin, we also specialize in clitoropexy, clitoral hood reduction that is sometimes performed concurrently with labiaplasty (also known as hoodectomy or clitoral unhooding). Additionally, we offer the best solutions in vaginal rejuvenation (more pictures), vaginoplasty, and pelvic floor reconstruction surgery.

We major in your health. While our visible results may be impressive, it’s the invisible ones like your improved comfort and confidence we’re most proud of.
