How Does a Hymenoplasty Work?
Before your procedure, you will have a private consultation to evaluate your anatomical needs and outline your personal goals. During the outpatient surgery—typically completed under local anesthesia or mild sedation—, our team carefully reunites and stitches together the remaining hymenal tissue using fine, dissolvable sutures.
If residual hymenal tissue is insufficient, a delicate technique using synthetic materials or adjacent vaginal lining can be utilized to recreate the hymenal structure.
Most patients experience minimal downtime and can resume normal routine activities within a few days, though strenuous activity and sexual intercourse must be avoided for approximately 4–6 weeks to allow complete healing.
All of these procedures are performed in our office surgical suite under oral and local sedation.
