Clitoral Glans Reduction

Renew Your
Confidence

You don’t have to live with clitoral enlargement. Austin Labiaplasty and Vaginal Rejuvenation offers several treatments that help address clitoromegaly.

What is a Clitoral Glans Reduction?

Clitoral glans reduction is the surgical reduction of the visible, non-erectile portion of the clitoris. It is frequently accompanied by elevating the erectile clitoral body via clitoropexy.

It is performed on patients with an enlarged clitoris (clitoromegaly) and reduces the visible protrusion of the clitoris as well as oversensitivity caused by excessive protrusion of the clitoral glans.

Clitoral glans reduction helps address the following symptoms:

  • Enlarged or protruding clitoris.
  • Dissatisfaction with appearance of the clitoris.
  • Excessive sensitivity due to exposed or enlarged clitoris.

Is a Clitoral Glans Reduction Right for You?

Clitoromegaly is when the clitoris takes on a more phallic and drooping appearance. The clitoral glans, or visible portion of the clitoris, also enlarges and is what people typically notice the most when the area is enlarged. If you are experiencing this, a clitoral glans reduction may be the solution.

Women taking testosterone therapy, especially in higher doses, can develop clitoromegaly. Clitoromegaly can also occur due to genetic predisposition or certain medical conditions.

If you have any of these symptoms, or if you have more questions, contact us to discuss your options.

How Does a Clitoral Glans Reduction Work?

Clitoral glans reduction is an in-office surgical procedure performed under local and oral anesthetic. Reducing the visible glans minimizes the external appearance of the clitoral bulb. Clitoropexy (elevation of the clitoris) reduces the drooping or sagging appearance of the clitoris and clitoral hood.

The combination of the two, along with clitoral hood reduction, helps patients achieve natural looking results.

The overall goal of clitoral glans reduction is a change in appearance as well as improvement in sexual response. Sexual response is multifactorial and other factors may play a role in the overall outcomes. Negative sexual changes post-operatively are most often temporary and resolve with time; however, there is a small risk of longstanding negative effects on the sexual response.

In patients with clitoromegaly, clitoral glans reduction is often done in conjunction with clitoropexy and/or clitoral prepuce reduction to further reduce the overall size of the clitoris.

All of these procedures are performed in our office surgical suite under oral and local sedation.
