What The Heck Is A “Vajaycay?”

Women from all over the world travel to Austin, Texas to see the ALVR team for monsplasty, labiaplasty, vaginal rejuvenation, and more! We get so many out-of-town patients that we coined the term “vajaycay” for those traveling from outside of Texas to see the surgeon with the highest post-procedure patient rating, Dr. Shashoua!

Okay, Clever. But, How Does a Vajaycay Work?

Out-of-town patients will usually do a consultation over the phone after submitting photos to our secure portal. We want to make sure that we have a full understanding of your goals and needs before you make the trip to Texas for your procedure. After the initial phone consultation, we schedule the procedure. Patients will typically come into town a day or two early for an in-office office visit where Dr. Shashoua and the team go over pre and post op instructions and best practices. Here’s a little breakdown of what a typical vajaycay looks like for our out-of-town patients.

  • Procedures are done on Thursdays
  • Post-op visits are the following day (Friday) before you leave Austin
  • Patients can leave after their post-op visit (some leave Friday, some stay over the weekend)

We perform most labiaplasties in the office in order to keep costs down, which means that traveling to Austin for your procedure could actually save you money. More importantly, our team has the experience and expertise to provide you with your desired, natural appearing result. According to RealSelf, the average cost of a labiaplasty is $4,275 – with prices ranging higher in areas like Los Angeles and New York City, where practices may charge as much as $6,000 – $8,000 for the procedure.

We’re located in North Austin, just off the Mopac expressway. We like to make it easy for our patients who are coming from out of town. When traveling to Austin for a vajaycay, we recommend a few convenient locations that our patients in the past have chosen.

  • Traveling from far away? Hotels by the ABIA are your best bet
  • Want to be close to our office? The Domain is a great choice
  • Want to see the sights and sounds of Austin before your procedure? Downtown is nestled just alongside the river and the lake, and is popular spot for people traveling from all over the world

For post-op medications, we like to make that process easy as well. We ship off your medication to a convenient pharmacy right by our offices, so you don’t have to hunt down a Walgreens or CVS after surgery.

When it comes to transport, we require professional medical transport for patients who don’t have a trusted person with them to get them to and from our offices. We have a couple transport teams that we know and trust: K & K Medical Transport and ATX Private Car Service.

For safety reasons, we do not allow patients to use rideshare services after surgery. If you would prefer to use a rideshare, you would  need to come to your appointment an hour early and take your prescribed medications once you get to the office.
