Is It Worth Traveling To Austin For a Labiaplasty?

Back to All

It’s common for us to see patients from all over the country for a labiaplasty. Not only is ALVR a nationally-ranked urogynecology office, but our hometown of Austin, Texas is an extremely popular vacation spot. In fact, we’ve dubbed traveling here for a labiaplasty a “vajay-cay”! Given all the expenses that come with surgery and travel, you might be wondering, “Is it worth traveling to Austin for a labiaplasty?” The reality is that traveling to our office in Austin for a labiaplasty is cost-effective for several reasons. Let’s break it down!

If you live in a populous coastal city like Los Angeles or New York, the cost of a labiaplasty is likely higher because it’s a dense, competitive market. The average price of a labiaplasty according to RealSelf is $4,275, but you can expect to pay between $6,000 – $8,000 in Los Angeles or New York City. You can receive the same top-quality care at Austin Labiaplasty and Vaginal Rejuvenation, where we charge $3,900 for a labiaplasty. Our pricing is competitive partly due to the market, but also because we’re able to conduct the procedure within our state-of-the-art facilities as opposed to a hospital. When you factor in airfare and accommodations, traveling to Austin for a labiaplasty could be thousands of dollars cheaper than getting one in a major city. Plus, you get to enjoy everything that the greatest city in America has to offer! At least in our humble opinion…

Whether you live in Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, or anywhere else in the country, you can schedule a remote consultation ahead of your visit. In order for us to better understand your unique goals and expectations, patients will use a secure portal to upload photos in advance. During your remote consultation we’ll review your photos and align on outcomes for your procedure. While we like to see patients in-person once or twice after their labiaplasty, we can also have a remote follow-up visit if there are no complications post-op.

The labiaplasty procedure itself (sometimes called “barbie vagina” or “designer vagina” surgery) is fairly straightforward. Once you’re comfortable, we’ll use a modified trimming technique to reduce the thickened, darker skin and excess tissue of the labia and clitoral hood. The goal is to have more natural-appearing labia. It’s important to keep in mind that if you do come to Austin for your labiaplasty, you will need to arrange for a designated friend or family member to drive you home after your procedure – you’ll be groggy from the medication and unable to drive yourself. We typically suggest that patients take a week off work to recover, and avoid sexual intercourse for six weeks to help with healing.

There are so many reasons why it’s worth traveling to Austin for a labiaplasty: affordable pricing, an incredibly fun city, and clean, state-of-the-art facilities. Not to mention, a board-certified urogynecologist, Dr. George Shashoua, with phenomenal reviews on RealSelf. If you’re ready to get started or if you have any questions whatsoever, don’t hesitate to contact us today!
