How Long Does The “O-Shot” Last?

For those considering getting the O-shot (also known as the “orgasm shot” or “G spot shot”) a common question is: for how long will the benefits last? The answer to this question will vary from person to person due to a number of different factors, but generally speaking patients can experience benefits anywhere from six months to two years after the procedure. It is often recommended that patients receive the treatment annually for optimal results.

Why such a large range in time?

As you may already know, the “O-shot” is a platelet-rich plasma injection, meaning an injection of concentrated plasma derived from your own blood. PRP injections have been used for years for a range of medical conditions, but it wasn’t until relatively recently that they started to be used to treat sexual dysfunction. Injecting PRP into clitoral tissue and the wall of the vagina can result in tissue regeneration, increased blood flow, and increased collagen production, which in turn benefits sexual function by increasing vaginal lubrication, sensitivity, and arousal. This can go a long way in helping with sex related issues, however it’s not going to be the end-all be-all for every patient.

Sexual dysfunction can result from many factors, not all of which are physical. Genetics, hormonal issues, and emotional health can all play a role…the mind-body connection is real! Depending on a patient’s specific circumstances, PRP therapy may be more effective when combined with other treatments and/or procedures. For example, if a patient is experiencing hormonal imbalance they will be more likely to benefit from PRP if they are also undergoing hormone replacement therapy. If a patient is considering labiaplasty, vaginoplasty, or ThermiVa vaginal rejuvenation, PRP therapy can also be administered in conjunction with those and other procedures to help achieve optimal sexual wellness.
