Does The O-Shot Help with Libido?

Back to All

A woman’s sex drive will naturally ebb and flow over time, with everything from life changes to medications impacting libido. Low sex drive isn’t a topic that’s openly discussed, which can often leave women to suffer in silence. It doesn’t have to be that way! At Austin Labiaplasty and Vaginal Rejuvenation, we’re here to address all aspects of women’s health, including sex drive.

So, let’s back it up for a minute: How do you know if you have low sex drive?

Identifying low libido or sex drive is a process that varies from woman to woman, and it’s impossible to assign a “number” to it. Instead, women with low sex drive may experience symptoms like having little to no interest in sex – or any sexual acitivty for that matter. Low sex drive also manifests by rarely experiencing sexual thoughts.

Low sex drive can be the result of a variety of causes, some physical and some mental. Physical causes can include lifestyle habits like smoking or drinking, fatigue, medical conditions or medications, pain or discomfort during sex, and hormone changes resulting from menopause or pregnancy. Mental health can also have a significant impact on your libido, with low self-esteem or stress hindering sex drive.

Finally, if you’re experiencing any sort of low sex drive, it’s also worth examining whether or not there are any relationship issues that could be contributing to your symptoms. Lack of trust, conflict, and poor communication are all relationship factors that can negatively impact your sex drive.

If you’re concerned by your disinterest in sex, you might want to discuss treatment options with your doctor. One increasingly popular treatment is the O-Shot.

Wondering how it works? The O-Shot utilizes platelet-rich plasma (PRP) that is found in your very own blood. The platelets in PRP are very powerful and help with tissue regeneration and collagen production, and it is increasingly used by medical practitioners across the spectrum to heal a variety of wounds. When injected into vaginal tissue, the O-Shot is able to increase blood flow to the area, resulting in a more pleasurable sexual experience.

At ALVR, the PRP injections are a simple, low-risk procedure. There’s minimal downtime, which makes it that much more of an attractive option to women facing sexual dysfunction.

It starts with a simple blood draw so that we can get the PRP. Once the blood is drawn, two things will happen. First, if you’d like, we’ll numb the injection site to make sure everything is easy breezy. Secondly, we’ll take your blood-draw and place it within a centrifuge in order to isolate the plasma. Once the blood has been processed, the PRP will be injected and you’ll be on your way.

Not only does PRP help with vaginal lubrication and climax, it also can help boost sex drive and arousal. In short, it’s an ideal treatment option for many women experiencing low libido. It is also a great addition to other therapies we offer for sexual dysfunction, like bioidentical hormone pellet therapy.

If you’re experiencing any form of sexual dysfunction and want to learn more about PRP, contact us at ALVR to book a consultation.
