What Is The Best Time Of Year To Get A Labiaplasty?

What’s the best time of year to get a labiaplasty? The answer is easy: Any time of year! While there isn’t an ideal season to get a labiaplasty, it’s common for women to seek out labiaplasty because they’re unable to fit bathing suit bottoms that provide proper coverage. So if that’s the case for you, you might prefer to schedule your procedure during the fall or winter so you’re ready to go for bikini season. Rest assured if you decided to have the procedure during peak summer season, you would only be limited for a few weeks and then able to hit the beach or pool within a short time frame.  It all comes down to your schedule and what works best for you. For a breakdown of the recovery timeline, check out this blog

Labiaplasty, often referred to as “barbie vagina” or “designer vagina,” is a procedure that reduces the size of an enlarged labia (check out our blogs about vagina shape and innie vs outie vaginas). Having an enlarged labia not only makes bikini shopping a challenge; it can also lead to chronic discomfort due to rubbing and friction. An enlarged labia is often associated with an enlarged clitoral hood, impacting your ability to achieve clitoral stimulation during sex as well.

While everyone’s end-result will look slightly different, a labiaplasty is designed to leave you with a more naturally-appearing labia that’s even in size. It’s a fairly simple procedure that we’re able to conduct from our offices, resulting in more manageable prices. Every patient will have a consultation prior to the procedure, in which we’ll review your unique goals and expectations. We’re pleased to offer remote consultations for out-of-town patients who are looking to come to our office in Austin for their labiaplasty. In fact, patients regularly come to us from San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas Fort-Worth – pretty much anywhere – for labiaplasty.

When the day of your procedure finally arrives, you’ll be provided with plenty of options to reduce any anxiety or discomfort you might be experiencing. You’ll be given medicine to reduce pain and help you relax, as well as an inhaled analgesic that you can control yourself. We’ll also numb the area ahead of time. From here, Dr. Shashoua uses a trimming technique to reduce the thickened labia skin and a wedge technique to reduce the clitoral hood as needed.

When your labiaplasty is done, you’ll be asked to take a week off work to recover. It’s also important to limit any strenuous activity or sexual intercourse for a few weeks as this might hinder your body’s ability to heal. We’ll schedule a couple follow-up appointments to make sure everything is progressing as it should. Once you’ve fully recovered, the world is your oyster! Our hope is that you’re left with a renewed sense of confidence and comfort.

No matter what time of year you want to get a labiaplasty, we’re here and ready to help you out. Ask any questions, schedule a consultation – whatever it is, you can contact us here on our website.
