The O-Shot vs The G-Shot – What’s The Difference?
Posted by ALVR | August 5, 2021
Back to AllThe O-Shot and G-Shot are treatment options for women’s sexual health and both either directly or indirectly affect clitoral stimulation. Both procedures are geared towards helping with sexual dysfunction by boosting sexual responsiveness and pleasure in women.
The O-Shot consists of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) that is injected directly into the periclitoral tissue, leading to a direct response by the clitoris and surrounding tissues. The G-Shot involves injecting the vagina with hyaluronic acid, which causes an indirect stimulation of the clitoris. PRP is a substance that’s collected by concentrating a patient’s blood, which we typically obtain through a simple blood draw at our office. The platelets in PRP contain cytokines and growth factors that help stimulate collagen and tissue regeneration, while also increasing blood flow to the area where injected.
We know, getting an injection in your vagina might sound painful or scary, but have no fear – it’s really nothing to be afraid of! All patients have the option to apply a local anesthetic prior to their procedure, or a local injection of anesthetic can be used if preferred. Recovery and downtime is minimal following PRP therapy, with some patients citing tenderness after the injection. Fortunately patients can resume their normal activities within a day.
Another upside of coming to use for PRP therapy? At Austin Labiaplasty & Vaginal Rejuvenation, patients also have the opportunity to layer their PRP therapy with other services like labiaplasty or vaginoplasty.
After receiving PRP therapy patients typically notice results right away, but it can take a few weeks for the full benefits to kick in entirely. You can expect a more pleasurable sexual experience in part due to increased arousal, more intense orgasms, increased vaginal lubrication and clitoral/vaginal sensitivity. The G-Shot will help enhance a sexual experience, but it won’t treat sexual dysfunction in the same way the O-Shot does.
