Why you should review your surgeon’s before and after photos before your labiaplasty

Typically, women who are interested in labiaplasty surgery have researched this procedure thoroughly and have a pretty clear idea of what look they are hoping to achieve after surgery. Before and after female rejuvenation photos are a useful tool to obtain more information regarding each surgeon’s technique and outcomes. It is important to remember that every woman has a unique anatomy and using a before and after picture is more helpful in understanding your surgeon’s expertise and technique rather than predicting an exact outcome.

There are typically three areas that may be addressed, depending on your anatomy during a labiaplasty procedure: the labia minora, the clitoral hood, and the tissue that extends to the posterior vaginal opening. At the time of your consult, your surgeon will examine you and learn which areas are bothersome for you. Your anatomy is then reviewed and the recommended procedure is discussed in detail, keeping in mind your ultimate goal. Together, you and your surgeon will agree on an approach to address the symptoms that are bothersome and will plan the procedure accordingly.

So, what are you looking for in your surgeon’s female rejuvenation before and after pictures? Do the photos show reduced labia minora but you still notice the presence of excess tissue at the clitoral hood or posterior fourchette area? Have you seen a surgeon who says they are not able to reduce tissue at the level of the clitoral hood? If any of these scenarios arise, you may need to research another surgeon. There are many doctors who perform labiaplasty but do not address the clitoral hood or the vaginal opening tissue, leaving excess skin in these areas. We, at ALVR, perform labiaplasty revisions in these cases, to create an overall more natural and aesthetic appearance.

A surgeon who is proficient in this procedure will have an in depth understanding of the female pelvic anatomy and will be able to address all areas of the labia.  Dr. Shashoua is board certified in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery and prides himself on his ability to address all areas of concern for his patient to achieve optimal outcomes.
