What To Expect From Your Labiaplasty: Before And After Photos

Back to All

Whether you’re already planning to have a labiaplasty or just considering it, it’s only natural to wonder: What will my vagina look like afterwards? It’s tempting to Google “before and after” labiaplasty photos, but that might not necessarily yield the results you want. Fortunately, we can help guide you in the right direction as Dr. George Shashoua has performed hundreds of labiaplasty procedures over the course of ten years. You can see his our patients’ actual before and after labiaplasty photos here

While these photos should give you a general sense of what to expect from a labiaplasty procedure, it’s important to remember that your results will be unique to you. No matter what, our goal is for labiaplasty to leave you with a thinner, more naturally-appearing labia. It’s critical to us that both your confidence and comfort are restored.

How your labia will appear after labiaplasty is only one piece of the puzzle. As we mentioned, regaining comfort is also an important marker of success. Patients that have had or want to have a labiaplasty know that an enlarged labia doesn’t just come with an insecurity about appearance; it’s also uncomfortable (check out our blogs about vagina shape and innie vs outie vaginas). Rubbing or friction of the labia can lead to chronic irritation and discomfort, and is particularly common with exercise. Similarly, an enlarged clitoral hood can interfere with your sex life by impacting clitoral stimulation.

Considering how much of an impact labiaplasty can have on your quality of life, it’s a fairly simple (and very safe) procedure. All patients will have a consultation prior to their procedure in which we’ll align on your specific goals and expectations. Your labiaplasty will then be conducted from the comfort of our offices, helping keep the costs down. As with most medical procedures, you’ll be provided with medicine to mitigate any pain or anxiety you’ll feel. You’ll also be given a patient-controlled, inhaled analgesic to use throughout the procedure.

From here, we apply a numbing agent to the labia, then proceed to use a trimming technique to “thin out” the excess skin. A clitoral hood reduction (also known as “clitoral unhooding” or “hoodectomy”) is often performed in tandem, in which the skin where the clitoral hood meets the labia is also reduced. Patients with a bulging or drooping clitoris may opt to have a clitoropexy, in which the clitoris is lifted and the bulge is minimized.

You will need a week or so following your labiaplasty to recover, and we advise patients to avoid sexual contact for at least six weeks to aid with healing. During your recovery period, we’ll also schedule a couple follow-up appointments to ensure everything is healing as it should.

If you still have questions or want to schedule a free consultation, contact us today. Dr. George Shashoua has been performing in-office labiaplasty and clitoral hood reductions in the Austin-area for many years now, working with at least 150 patients every year. Be sure to check out his reviews on RealSelf if you’re still not convinced!
