Vaginoplasty or vaginal rejuvenation surgery tightens the structural layers of the vagina and perineum. Compared to other types of vaginal rejuvenation, vaginoplasty offers immediate, long-lasting results. 

It’s natural and common for the vagina and perineum to stretch and relax with time, especially following childbirth. Factors like age and genetics can also contribute to vaginal looseness. While it’s not dangerous, vaginal laxity impacts how the vagina looks and feels. This is most noticeable during intercourse, as vaginal looseness can lead to a lack of sensation and difficulty climaxing. In some cases, it’s possible that vaginal laxity is indicative of vaginal prolapse, which is the dropping of surrounding organs into the vagina. Patients that are experiencing vaginal prolapse will need a formal prolapse repair which can be performed alongside vaginoplasty.

Vaginoplasty specifically targets the structural layers that comprise the vagina and perineum. During the procedure we’ll reduce the size of the vaginal opening and get rid of any excess tissue. The entire procedure takes about two hours, and is performed within a hospital or surgical center. Patients are encouraged to take two weeks off from work to recover, and the vagina takes about six weeks to fully heal. During this time, any stitches will dissolve on their own.
