To start, a topical numbing cream is applied at home before surgery.Prior to the surgery, patients are given oral sedation to reduce pain and provide relaxation. In other words, we’ll get you the good stuff to ensure a smooth procedure. At the time of the procedure, a numbing medication is injected into the labia.

The combination of oral pain medications, topical numbing cream, and the injection allows for our patients to feel very relaxed and comfortable throughout the entirety of their time in our Austin labiaplasty office.

During the procedure, the patient may feel some slight tugging or pressure, but shouldn’t feel any pain. We’ve noticed that a lot of our patients even fall asleep during the procedure.

After the procedure, we ensure you are feeling good and pain is well controlled before your ride can then drive you home. You will go home with oral pain medications and an ice pack. The degree of pain felt varies among people. Most people take pain medications regularly for two to three days and then taper off from there. Some pain medication is often taken for one week and at times up to two weeks postoperatively. We will work closely with you to make sure your pain is well-managed at all times.
