How Are Hormone Pellets Inserted?

Back to AllLow testosterone in women is a much more prevalent issue than many people realize, and unless you are well versed in the various symptoms you might not realize that you could potentially be suffering from it.
The primary symptoms of low testosterone in women include: decreased libido, low energy levels, decreased arousal/vaginal dryness, and dampened mood. Treatments for low testosterone aren’t just effective at addressing these problematic symptoms – they can also provide additional benefits for your cardiovascular health and bone density.
If you think that you might be suffering from low testosterone, Austin Labiaplasty and Vaginal Rejuvenation will work together with you to determine the best treatment plan to help you achieve balance. We offer a type of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) called SottoPelle, which, unlike traditional HRT, is a form of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). “Bioidentical” means that the hormones are chemically identical to the ones you produce naturally in your body. SottoPelle also comes in the form of pellets, which are preferable to oral or topical delivery methods because the pellets release the hormones continually over time rather than in sporadic large doses.
If you’re curious about trying Sottopelle, you probably want to know more about how the pellet treatment is administered. Each pellet is about the size of a grain of rice, the procedure for placing them is very straightforward, and there is minimal downtime. We will determine the proper dosage for you based on your blood tests, then when you come in for your appointment we prep the area where the pellets will be inserted – typically the hip or buttocks – with local anesthetic. We then make a small incision, and place the pellets within the fatty tissue, and cover the area with a waterproof dressing with compression applied for a few minutes. We send you home with an ice pack and simply ask that you keep the dressing on for three days… that’s all there is to it!
Every patient has different needs, but pellets are generally readministered every three to six months. Many patients find that they can tell when it’s time to come back because they notice the symptoms of low testosterone returning. In some instances, you might also benefit from an oral supplement to help optimize the pellet dosing.
If you believe that you might be suffering from low testosterone and would like to learn more about Sottopelle, contact Austin Labiaplasty and Vaginal Rejuvenation today to schedule a free consultation.
